Alice Di Micele is an accomplished singer/songwriter who has released 16 albums including her latest Every Seed We Plant.  Alice has toured for 35 years and has played many festivals, theatres, and music venues. In general, she does all original material but of late has been doing a series of covers in homage to some of her biggest influences. So far those include the diverse styles of Rev. Gary Davis, Kate Wolf, Tom Petty and now Neil Young.

She has been a long-time fan of Neil Young, in fact the first song she ever learned was Sugar Mountain. Alice was the singer in a band called Eon Ocean in her hometown in New Jersey.  Alice had gone to Carnegie Hall to see her first concert, David Grisman Quintet with Tony Rice on guitar and came home on the train determined to learn the guitar. She dug out her mom’s old classical beater from the closet that only had 5 strings and called guitarist Jimi Costanza who lived many miles away and said “teach me to play.” He told her to hang up the phone and then pick up and listen to the dial tone and then to tune the 2nd biggest string to that note and then to call him back. She did, and he proceeded to teach her to tune the guitar and to play her first song. Thus began her love affair with the instrument.

Young’s music has moved her since she can remember listening to music. Old Man is a longtime favorite and Alice decided to release this song in honor of Neil and what his music means to her. “I hope folks enjoy my take on this classic tune that has meant so much to me over the years. I grew up listening to Neil’s music and his songs have influenced my songwriting immensely.”

The track features Rob Kohler on bass, Nick Kirby on drums, and Alice on acoustic guitar and vocals and was co-produced by Di Micele and Bret Levick, mixed by Bret Levick, and mastered by Jim Chapdelaine.
