Give Yourself to Love was written by the late-great singer-songwriter Kate Wolf, whom had a profound influence on Alice’s music. ” I came across Kate’s music while on Grateful Dead tour in 1983. She was opening for the Jerry Garcia Band in Northern California. I heard her voice from outside the gate where I was looking for a ticket and was so blown away I jumped a 6 foot barbed wire fence in a skirt and flip-flops to get to the stage. Many of the folk singer/songwriters I had been exposed to had very high voices with a style that never fit my voice or aesthetic. Kate’s soothing alto felt so much more comfortable to me as both a singer and a listener. Her relaxed style felt so natural and her lyrics touched me deeply. She was singing about the things in life that mattered to me. Her melodies were soothing, simple, and stirring at the same time.” Alice explains, “I have been asked to sing this song at many weddings and memorials and had the honor of closing the Kate Wolf Music Festival in 2019 with this song. It’s an honor to share my version of this iconic classic folk song by one of my all-time favorite artists.”
Alice Di Micele has released 16 albums of original songs. Her first album “Make A Change” was released in 1988 and her most recent, “Every Seed We Plant” in 2022. She is currently working on a new project and looking forward to touring in 2023.
