Story
My name is Alice Di Micele and I’m a singer, songwriter, guitarist, recording artist, lover of nature, activist, grandmother and oh so much more. I’ve been at this a while. I put out my first record Make A Change in 1988 and have toured all over the place creating community and doing my best to protect this beautiful home of ours through music. I just turned 60 and Reverse the Flow will be my 18th album to date and I’m so excited to share it with you. I truly believe this is my best work to date. The songs speak to the current times we are living in and my hope is that they help get you through this unprecedented time in our history/herstory. Music is a healer, a connector, and a community builder and I’m grateful to carry these songs around in service to the world we live in.

We live in a time when Crowdfunding makes it possible for new music to be released through community support rather than via record label or corporate support. When lots of folks come together to support a project like this we can make magic. Pre-orders and donations are the name of the game. I’m at the point in production where I cannot continue to foot the bill on my own and need help. I had the honor of recording my vocals at world famous producer Sylvia Massey’s Oddio Shop as well as some post recording work on the drum sounds. The album will be mastered by Piper Payne in Nashville and she will oversee the vinyl production. There are so many details and things that go into this type of production of the music and the packaging too. My dear friend Mike DuBois of Happy Life Productions in Woodstock, NY has agreed to paint the album cover. He painted the cover of my second album It’s A Miracle and we’ve been wanting to work together again. We have been friends since college days and he has done art for some of my favorite musicians including Tom Petty, The Grateful Dead and so many more. Mike and I have a deep bond that has lasted over 40 years and I’m so grateful he has agreed to bless the new album with his art.
As you can imagine all of this costs money. I’m not one to skimp on paying folks for their hard work so everyone has been paid living wage for their time.
Here’s a list of expenses:
- Musicians $5550
- Production and engineering $7000
- Mastering $1500
- Art and Graphic Design $1300
- Production of CDs $1000
- Production of Vinyl $2800
- Misc, plugins, recording gear, and studio food for folks $500
- Radio promotion and marketing budget $4000
That adds up to $23,650 and does not include a penny for any of my time writing, recording, and the hundreds of hours I have into this project. This is just the break-even mark. I’m counting on my community to rally behind this project so I can complete the work and of course I’d be thrilled to actually get paid for my time and work too. You will notice a few levels of goals in the campaign. Luckily I have already had a generous donor give $3,000 for executive producer credit which brings my total expenses down to $20,650.

FAQ
Q: Can I donate to the campaign without getting a physical product?
A: YES! You can choose the Download/Streamer reward and you are also welcome to add an extra tip at checkout if you so choose!
Q: When will I get things I order here?
A: You will receive whatever you order as soon as I can get it to you. Most likely in the fall of this year or early winter for physical products, though I will send out early downloads to everyone who supports the campaign.
Q: I don’t have the ability to contribute financially but I want to help. What can I do?
A: Share the campaign with friends and family via email and on social media. Sending your good vibes and visualizing success will help too! Thank you for your support!
Q: Why are you doing this on your website instead of on a crowdfunding site like Kickstarter or Indiegogo?
A: I’ve used both Kickstarter and Indiegogo in the past. They charge a percentage of what you give and they often add a tip for their own service without making it clear that tips don’t go to the project you are funding. While very helpful, I have found that I can do this more efficiently through my own website. I have had several problems with those services not sending me correct data on what people order and ended up with upset folks who didn’t get what they ordered. Having it all on my own website makes it easier for me track and mail out orders quickly and efficiently the same way I fill regular orders from my site.
Q: What happens if you don’t reach your goal?
A: The album will still be released, and you will get your copies but I may not be able to promote the album or get paid for my time and efforts creating it. You will still get the music!

Launching my campaign!
This is always an amazing process and this time I am choosing to create my crowdfund right here on my website. This way, I can mail out the orders directly from my site as opposed to having to download CSV and try to make sure I don’t miss anything. I’m so excited about this new album and it is coming together so beautifully. I can’t wait for YOU to hear it!

The first goal is $6,800 which would make it so I can finish the record and make physical copies.

The second goal is $16,350 which would allow me to pay back the money I’ve already spent and borrowed to make this album.

The third goal is $20,650 in which I would break even and be able to promote the album.
Goal 4: $25,650
Goal #4 would be $25,650 which would allow me to be paid for some of my time and energy. While music is my passion and a labor of love, I still have bills to pay and needs for self-care.
