Quotes

"Alice's music has that great combination of earthiness and groove that keeps it funky from the inside out. She's for real."
—Bonnie Raitt

"Alice DiMicele writes songs of consciousness and loving patience for the world we live in and, more importantly, delivers them with a sincerity, power and positivity that wakes the heart and gives us refreshment for hope. It's a pleasure to play with her whenever this 'ol boy gets the chance."—Joe Craven

"Hearing Alice DiMicele's rich, honest, and full-toned voice, even unaccompanied by her accomplished guitar playing, has an effect on you that you won't soon forget. She sings from every cell of her being, with a healing intent, a simmering intensity, and an exhuberant joy."
—Magical Blend Magazine

"Her warmth, humor, and spirit really shine in performance. Alice puts on a great show. Hire her!"
—Mike Sturgill, Britt Festivals

"Alice DiMicele has 'that thing' that every other singer wants...that mix of amazing technique and dirty grit that will put you in that magic place right between crying and laughing. She's a waterfall of soul!"
—Sid Lewis, Founder of Acoustic College and Jamming 101 seminars

"...her rich, jazzy vocals, laid upon a bed of easygoing folk pop, are as warm and inviting as a cup of thick cocoa."
—The Oregonian

"A dynamic and provocative songwriter, DiMicele's straightforward lyrics invoke real life and stir the soul."
—Tacoma City Paper

"With an impressive five-octave range, her music is intense, sensual, and above all, soulful."
—Dirty Linen

"Alice DiMicele is without a doubt the genuine article. Her poetry floats beautifully on her river and music and takes you on a journey of life that reaches out and makes the connection with the listener. She succeeds in this way because she is honest and truthful in her art. She delivers with wonderful skill and passioin in her performances. In my opinioin she is one of our finest singer songwriters."
—James Keigher, Men Of Worth

"...a full, resounding, articulated voice sounding as if it had spent an age reverberating through deep caverns, gathering force before erupting into the open."
—Jim Foley, KXCI, Tuscson, AZ

"Her songs speak of rivers and trees, of salmon and the ocean, and she sings them with a clear, powerful voice with a range through several octaves."
—North Coast Journal

"(DiMicele) has a relaxed delivery and a warm tone, and she glides effortlessly from low-end notes to pitch-perfect soprano."
—The Register Guard

"...my Bose speakers came to life with a rich, five-octave, voice and a complex, percussive guitar....Coffee may have given the wake-up, but (Alice's) music stirred the soul in a rhythmic groove."
—Point Reyes Light

"This is full service music that we can sing along with, dance to, or simply enjoy with friends."
—Victory Review

"Alice's music moves my soul."
—Bobby Vega

—Caroline Aiken

"
"The Oregon based folk singer-guitarist's octave-leaping voice recalls Rory Block's in it's gorgeous elasticity and Tracy Chapman's in it's warm resonance...highly recommended..."
—East Bay Express

"A one-woman dance machine, Alice gets you all over, as cerebral as boogiefied, as in the gut as spiritual. While making no concessions, her music offends none. Makes us think but always in the good way."
—Craig Wright (Cast of Clowns, Horsefeathers, Elijah)

"Di Micele's voice is a high performance instrument that powers finely tuned songwriting like no other instrument could. This CD [Demons & Angels] could stand on the strength of that powerful, bluesy voice alone, but because of the quality of the songwriting, this stuff would sound great even if Bob Dylan sang it. Ouch!"
—The Rocket, Seattle, WA

"...simple and stirring songs...prolific and poetic."
—Laura Post, Sing Out

"Alice Di Micele grabs a crowd and holds them in her musical spell. Her vocal mastery and clean, strong guitar work are truly an inspiration. Alice rocks!"

"...one of the most powerful, eloquent, and talented musicians gracing the music scene today."
—Sue Lukasha, Community Endeavor, Nevada City, CA

"This lady's no shrinking violet... a talent noteworthy in the extreme."
—Rock 'n Reel, UK

"Di Micele's voice is a big supple instrument that can take a lyric from breathy intimacy to funky scat to lilting lyricism and back again in a few bars."
—Mail Tribrune

"...incredible vocal range, amazing control and crystal clear delivery...one of the finest artists we've come across in a long time."
—Songs For Peace, NYC

"A killer set of cords..."
—The Leak

"Di Micele's voice...weeps the blues, drives funk, rolls rock, and scats jazz, sometimes all in one song. She twists notes, jumps on them, smokes them, and they issue from her mouth like curvy ribbons that flow deep from her heart."
—Currents Magazine

"One of the Northwest's finest folk artists."
—Southern Willamette Alliance, Eugene, OR

"...testament to the not-so-simple art of songwriting and tasteful performance...with warmth, purpose and a lot of guts."
—Dirty Linen

"Alice Di Micele has a dynamism to her delivery not always associated with folk music. Not only does she back up her powerful voice with heartfelt conviction in every word, but her guitar ability is fast setting her apart from the sea of folk artists whose repertoire consists mostly of strumming."
—Kip Ward, Good Times, Santa Cruz, CA

"...deep velvet voice... and lyrics rooted in nature and healing ourselves and our Mother Earth... can melt you, exhilarate you, and move you to dance and tears..."

Concerts In Your Home

Make your own scene. How to host a house concert.

And here are some
quotes from hosts:

The two house concerts Alice has done in my series, both to capacity crowds, were pure delight. A wide range of material, intense and rich vocals, moving stories drawn from her varied life experiences, and her own warmth and humor made for some very special evenings. And wow, did the sing-alongs ever have the audiences engaged! —Bill Lippe, Seattle, WA

My husband Dennis and I attended many house concerts in Davis and Santa Rosa.  Inspired by that experience, we have been doing some house concerts here in Mount Shasta where we now live.  It is such a rewarding experience to help support musicians and have some of your favorite artists right in your own home! It is so much fun to share an intimate house concert experience with friends, family, and neighbors.

Recently we hosted Alice DiMicele and Jeff Pevar.  It was fantastic!!  We had about 50 people here and everyone went away happy and singing their praise!  Alice is a wonderful, positive, songwriter, singer, storyteller, and musician and Jeff is an amazing guitarist.  We hope to have them back again!! —Debbie Desrochers, Mount Shasta, California

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Alice DiMicele.  She put on a great show for our audience.  She interacted well with them and impressed all with her great vocal range.  We very much appreciated her ability to project her voice without amplification. —Debbie & Greg Ching, Aspen Meadows House Concerts, Nederland, CO

It was so gratifying to have Alice play a house concert in our home. Organizing the event was simple and Alice played an incredible concert for our friends. It was a magical experience to see Alice perform in such an intimate setting: my living room! People still talk about it til this day and keep asking, “when are you doing it again?”. Hopefully soon.—Sev Williams, Corvallis, OR

Loved, loved, loved Alice DiMicele! All went off smoothly before, during and after. Highly reccommend this talented artist!
—Pam Koons, Marysville, WA

Alice has a deep sexy penetrating voice, and creates a mood and groove in her music that is infectious and makes you want to sing with her. A queen of groove folk, loves a good jam, and her lyrics focus on the relationship between humans and the environment around us, especially the river. You will float down the raft of her passions in a white water ride of fun, thought, passion and will be singing along on several of her songs. You will become a wild chinook salmon, you will feel the breeze flow through the cottonwoods, and possibly find yourself singing along in one of THREE parts if she is so inspired... Captivating and dynamic presence.   —M. Nassar, Salem, OR
