Alice Di Micele Back on the Road with the Spirit of the River
(Ashland, Oregon August. 14, 2008) With the successful 2007 release of her CD, ?y ebb and by flow, Alice Di Micele has found herself venturing out and performing again with renewed spirit and energy. ? feel very blessed to be able to return to the music business feeling loved and supported says Di Micele. ?Playing lots of shows this last year with an amazing band has inspired me to get to work on a new recording. We have plans to be in the studio in December."
While Di Micele spent many years as a solo performer rocking out with her trademark rhythmic earthy grooves and rich sensual and soulful five octave voice, these days Di Micele finds herself most often performing with her band. A musicians musician, Di Micele has assembled a flexible group of monster players like guitarists Jeff Pevar (CPR, Jazz is Dead, etc) and Steve James Wright (Jerry Joseph and X-Angels); bassists David Gelfand, Bobby Vega (Sly and the family Stone, Zero, KVHW, etc) and Rob Kohler that often join her on tour. Members may change from gig to gig but the groove remains. The Alice Di Micele Band has been widely received and is making a splash on the festival and jamband circuit.
Di Micele? 2007 release ?y ebb and flow, her first studio album in 9 years released on her own Alice Otter Music label marked a musical watershed, for the Northwest singer-songwriter. Burnt out from the music industry and a relentless tour schedule that had kept her busy and on the road for the past 20 years singing earthy anthems, Di Micele had decided to take a break and put her paddle in the water. She spent several years to that end whitewater kayaking and raft guiding in the Oregon Wilderness, a sojourn that eventually served up the sparkling gems on ?y ebb & by flow.
As natural as the earth? own cyclic rhythms, the release of ?y ebb & flow, had Di Micele dipping her toes again in the tidal pools of the music industries choppy waters with a CD that crossed many musical genres ranging from jazzy styling to earthy pop rock to rootsy Americana. Receiving widespread radio airplay, tracks like ?ade Out of Water, and ?exico were picked up by numerous folk, Americana, and independent shows on public, community, internet, and independent radio stations across the country while ?y ebb & by flow received favorable media reviews. As Di Micele? musical journey continues, we can be grateful that she heeded her own inner voice to rest and rejuvenate and that she is back sharing her inspired gifts with all of us.
